Tragedy Strikes Indians In Kuwait Building Fire: 45 Lives Lost

Tragedy struck the Gulf nation of Kuwait as a devastating fire engulfed a building housing migrant workers in the Mangaf area. The incident claimed the lives of 45 Indian nationals, deeply impacting their families and communities both in Kuwait and back in India.

An Indian Air Force aircraft has been designated to transport the remains of the deceased back to their home country for final rites. Among the victims, a significant number hailed from the southern state of Kerala, with others originating from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.

The majority of the deceased were employed by NBTC, the largest construction company in Kuwait, underlining the close ties between the company and the Indian expatriate community. Spanning various ages and professions, the victims included seasoned workers with decades of experience in Kuwait, as well as recent arrivals seeking better opportunities.

The list of those who tragically lost their lives includes individuals like Akash S Nair, a 32-year-old from Panthalam in Pathanamthitta district, who had devoted eight years to his work in Kuwait. Another victim, the 65-year-old Chennasseril Saju Varghese from Konni, had a longstanding 22-year tenure in the country. Varghese leaves behind his wife Bindu and two children, highlighting the personal tragedies that have unfolded due to this calamity.
