Tyreek Hill Miami Dolphins Trade Rumors

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Tyreek Hill, the Miami Dolphins’ All-Pro wide receiver, may find himself on the trading block as uncertainty looms over his future with the team. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier commented in April about a potential trade, stating, “If someone wants to come and give me two first round picks, then we’d consider it.” Grier’s words could indicate the team is open to discussions, especially with June 1 approaching, a date that could change the financial implications of any trade.

Hill currently faces $28.296 million in unallocated bonus money that would hit the cap. If traded before June 1, all costs would impact the 2025 season, while a post-June 1 trade would alleviate some of the immediate cap burden by spreading it over two years. This financial dynamic means that trades involving Hill, as well as other high-profile players like cornerback Jalen Ramsey, are likely to wait until the calendar turns to June.

The Dolphins finished the 2024 season with an 8-9 record, missing the playoffs, which led to Hill’s vague remarks about his loyalty to the team. Despite saying, “I love [Miami], my family loves it,” there are indications that the Dolphins might look for fresh opportunities. This has put teams like the San Francisco 49ers in play, who have significant cap space and could be interested in adding Hill.

Analysts like Mike Florio have suggested that while no one is likely willing to part with two first-round picks, the Dolphins might entertain offers at a lower price, especially with Hill’s recent performance of 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns last season. The 49ers and other teams could view Hill as a key weapon, especially as they consider how he fits into their offensive strategy.

Hill’s recent behavior, including a public outburst against the Buffalo Bills and a wrist surgery earlier this year, raises questions about his on-field commitment and marketability. While he aims to prove his worth as a leader, observers note that his injury history and past conduct may deter some teams.

Jason La Canfora reported that the Dolphins are keen on financial flexibility, and with talent like Hill still in the mix, they could maneuver their roster strategically once the post-June 1 period begins. The San Francisco 49ers, specifically, have expressed interest, having recently engaged in discussions with the Dolphins, which could lead to a significant trade ahead.
