Columbia, under first-year head coach Kevin Hovde, also won its initial game, triumphing over New Haven 71-53. Kenny Noland led Columbia with 14 points while the team shot 55.1% from the field.
After facing Columbia, the Huskies will shift gears to a more competitive schedule, heading to Boston to contend with No. 8 BYU on November 15.
