After a detailed cyber analysis by the National Cyber Crime Threat Analysis Unit on behalf of the Home Ministry, the National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to cancel the UGC-NET exam held on June 18, 2024.

The Education Minister’s department issued a statement announcing the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam due to concerns raised by cyber analysis indicating potential irregularities.

The Ministry stated that the exam will be conducted anew with utmost transparency and integrity, and a fresh examination schedule will be shared separately.

Alongside, the case is being handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough investigation into the alleged discrepancies.

The examination was conducted in two phases on June 18, 2024, through OMR (pen and paper) mode across various cities in the country, as per the Education Ministry.

On June 19, inputs received from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analysis Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) pointed towards possible compromises in exam integrity.

The Ministry affirmed that the decision to cancel the UGC-NET June 2024 exam was made to ensure the highest level of transparency and purity in the examination process.
