Vandersloot Returns for Emotional Sky Home Opener

CHICAGO — Thursday night was filled with emotion as Courtney Vandersloot took the court for the Sky‘s home opener at Wintrust Arena after a two-year absence. The game was particularly special, as her newborn daughter watched from the stands, cheering her mother on.
This matchup also marked the first time Vandersloot would reunite with many of her former teammates from the New York Liberty, where she helped secure a WNBA title last year. Their bond, forged during back-to-back WNBA Finals appearances, was palpable as they connected once again on the court.
Vandersloot, a five-time All-Star, reflected on her time with the Liberty. ‘Each memory I made in New York is special to me,’ she said. ‘Winning that championship and competing with such talented players was unforgettable.’
The Sky faced a tough opponent in the Liberty, adding intensity to the occasion. Fans filled the arena, eager to support Vandersloot and the team as they opened their season at home.
As the night progressed, Vandersloot’s presence and experience became evident. Every dribble and play she made reminded the audience of her impactful contributions to both the Sky and the Liberty.
With the exciting atmosphere and heartfelt connections back on display, Vandersloot’s journey continued to unfold in front of her family and friends.
