Wolves Progress to Semi-Finals of U17 Premier League Cup with Victory over Leicester
Wolves secured a spot in the semi-finals of the under-17 Premier League Cup after a 3-1 win against Leicester City at Compton Park. Goals from Minkyu Ji, Tom Edozie, and Alvin Ayman propelled Richard Walker‘s side towards victory, despite Jake Evans’ late first-half goal for Leicester.
Ji put Wolves in the lead within the first five minutes with a spectacular shot that found the top corner of the net. Leicester fought back, with Josh King testing Wolves’ goalkeeper Lewys Benjamin. However, Wolves doubled their lead through Edozie’s precise shot that left Jake Donohue helpless in the Leicester goal.
Leicester managed to narrow the deficit just before half-time, with Evans scoring an impressive diving header. But Wolves quickly restored their two-goal advantage in the second half, as substitute Ayman made an immediate impact, netting with his first touch of the game.
With their solid defense, Wolves successfully defended their lead for the remaining 25 minutes, restricting Leicester’s chances. Lennon Patterson came close to extending Wolves’ lead, but his strike sailed just wide.
Wolves’ victory sets them up for an exciting semi-final clash as they continue their journey in the U17 Premier League Cup.
