Two-time champion Scottie Scheffler, the current top-ranked golfer, found himself in a legal tangle after an incident with a Louisville police officer on his way to the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky.

Scheffler’s journey to the tournament was marred by him allegedly bypassing the scene of a fatal accident, resulting in his arrest for second-degree assault of a police officer and reckless driving.

The golfer, known for his recent successes, including a win at the Masters, termed the incident a ‘big misunderstanding’ after being booked and photographed.

Despite the ordeal, Scheffler managed to make it to his tee time and was welcomed by fans with enthusiasm before kicking off his round with a birdie.
