NEW YORK, NY — Trent Grisham is making headlines this season as he returns to the New York Yankees lineup after a brief absence for the birth of his first child. Entering Friday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium, Grisham has been a key contributor, boasting a .320 batting average with six home runs and 13 RBIs in just 20 games.

Grisham’s strong performance comes as the Yankees lead the American League in runs scored this season. His return is especially timely for the Yankees, who struggled offensively in his absence, managing only 11 runs over their last three games against the Cleveland Guardians.

“It feels great to be back with the team,” Grisham said. “I’m just trying to do my part to help us win games.”

The 28-year-old outfielder was placed on the paternity list and was activated during the Yankees’ recent off day. His presence is expected to be a boost as the Yankees enter a stretch of important games this month. The Yankees are currently favored at -132 for Friday’s matchup.

In Grisham’s absence, the Yankees recalled infielder prospect Jorbit Vivas from Triple-A, but he was optioned back without making his major-league debut. Vivas, 24, had been with the Yankees for just one day last season.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays hope to shake off a five-game losing streak and regain their offensive rhythm as they stand third in the AL East, three games behind the Yankees.

“It’s crucial for us to get back on track against a strong Yankees lineup,” said Blue Jays manager John Schneider. “We need to find ways to score and support our pitchers.”

The first pitch for Friday’s game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
