106-Year-Old Veteran Fraser Fort Returns for ANZAC Day Clash
Joint Mathieson medallist, Fraser Fort, will step onto the field for the first time this season in the upcoming Anzac Day showdown between South Barwon and St Joseph’s at Drew Oval.
Confirming the news on K Rock‘s Beyond the Boundary podcast, Captain Matt Caldow shared that Fort is set to face off against Joeys, as he has been gradually introduced back into the season.
“He’s grumpy at the best of times; we’re just trying to get him motivated,” Caldow humorously remarked.
For Caldow, this marks his fifth appearance on Anzac Day.
“It’s electrifying to partake in a regular season game that carries the intensity of a final,” he expressed. “The atmosphere, the crowd, the clash between two esteemed clubs – it’s a unique challenge to prepare for.”
Fraser Duryea is set to make his comeback post-illness after missing the previous narrow triumph over Lara, while the availability of Todd White is contingent on Geelong VFL commitments.
Geelong Falcons graduate Tom Bartlett is on the roster sporting White’s no. 28, potentially marking his debut, having hailing from Modewarre.
“They hadn’t finalized the team when we spoke last night,” Caldow mentioned.
Live coverage of the match kicks off at 1pm via [Broadcast Channel].
