Donkey Kong Bananza Nintendo Direct Announcement

REDMOND, Wash. — Nintendo announced on June 16 that it will host a Nintendo Direct presentation for its upcoming game, Donkey Kong Bananza. The Direct is scheduled for June 18 at 6:00 a.m. Pacific Time and will last approximately 15 minutes.

Donkey Kong Bananza is set to release on July 17, 2025, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game promises an engaging mix of 3D platforming and 2D side-scrolling elements, inviting players to explore a detailed underground world filled with unique biomes and various boss encounters.

The announcement, made via the Nintendo Today app, indicates that the Direct will provide an in-depth look at the game’s story and mechanics. This includes new gameplay footage, character designs, and the potential introduction of Diddy Kong’s redesigned look, which has been teased through promotional materials.

Nintendo fans are particularly excited for this Direct, as there has been speculation about gameplay elements and fears regarding level design. Matthew Osborne, a gaming enthusiast, expressed his surprise at the need for a dedicated Direct, noting that a standard announcement might usually suffice for games lacking extensive multiplayer or complex upgrade systems. ‘But they are right to address concerns over the gameplay’s focus on destruction,’ he added.

The Donkey Kong Bananza Direct will be available to stream on Nintendo’s official YouTube and Twitch channels, providing accessibility for fans worldwide. Despite varying time zones, fans can tune in live on June 18, making this an anticipated event for gamers looking forward to the franchise’s latest installment.

This showcase comes just a month before the game’s launch, giving players a taste of what to expect in the new Donkey Kong adventure.
