Lamb Set to Return as Cowboys Face Commanders This Sunday
FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is set to return to the lineup this Sunday against the Washington Commanders after missing the past three games due to a high left ankle sprain.
Lamb participated in a limited practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday. He expressed confidence in his recovery, stating, “I feel like I’m moving around, running around being me. Happy as can be obviously just believing in my ankle. Obviously, I feel like it’s back to where I needed it to be.”
The 24-year-old wideout said he could have returned last week against the New York Giants, but opted for an additional week of recovery to ensure full confidence in his ankle. “I feel like that’s why we took an extra week just to make sure that I had that comfort,” he noted.
Lamb suffered the sprain during the first half of a Week 3 loss to the Giants. Despite his absence, the Cowboys have maintained a strong offense, fueled by quarterback Dak Prescott‘s impressive performance with ten touchdowns and no interceptions this season.
<p"A lot of excitement," Prescott said about Lamb's return. "Just the last two days of practice, he looks good. He's ready to go… It’s going to be fun."
Lamb started the season strong with two 100-yard games before his injury. He is on the verge of reaching 7,000 career scrimmage yards, needing just 51 yards against the Commanders to achieve this milestone in 85 games, the fastest in Cowboys’ history.
Additionally, Lamb has recorded three consecutive seasons with over 100 catches and 1,000 yards. “Why I’m hungry is me missing time and doing what I love and playing with the guys that I love,” he commented.
The combination of Lamb and fellow receiver George Pickens, who has a touchdown catch in five straight games, could elevate the Cowboys’ offense. In Lamb’s absence, the Cowboys utilized Pickens in various formations, enhancing their competitive edge.
“Having the ability to have two guys like that and just put them wherever we feel each and every play, it’s only going to be beneficial to us,” Prescott added.
