Winnipeg Jets Vs Calgary Flames Hockey

CALGARY, Alberta – The Winnipeg Jets are set to face the Calgary Flames tonight at 8:30 PM CT, looking to extend their winning streak to five games. After beating the Nashville Predators 4-1 on Saturday, the Jets are excited to continue their strong start to the season.

Mark Scheifele became the franchise’s all-time points leader during the win, surpassing Blake Wheeler with his 813th point. “I’m tremendously honoured. I wouldn’t be here without the guys, especially the guy I went ahead of,” Scheifele commented, showing gratitude for his teammates and the organization.

Despite their recent success, Scheifele believes there is still room for improvement. At 4-1-0, he stressed that the Jets have yet to deliver a full 60-minute performance. “Even (Saturday), we came out great, but we need to fix a lot of things to be better,” he said.

The Jets’ penalty kill has been a bright spot this season, currently operating at an impressive 95.5 percent. Head coach Scott Arniel attributes this to players anticipating the opposing power play and working together effectively. “We’ve done a better job of shared clears, allowing us to get a change and get fresh legs out there,” Arniel said.

In a lineup change, Brad Lambert will make his season debut, joining Alex Iafallo and Vladislav Namestnikov on a line. Lambert, who has played six NHL games, expressed excitement about the opportunity. “It helps that I’ve played with them in the past. It helps a lot to have chemistry from those earlier times,” he noted after the morning skate.

On the other side, the Calgary Flames are looking to snap a five-game losing streak following a tough 6-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. With only 10 goals across six games, their offense has struggled significantly, having ranked near the bottom last season.

Arniel warned his team about the challenge presented by a desperate Flames squad. “When you get a wounded dog, it’s one of two things. Either they bite you or they put the tail between their legs, and I don’t think they’re going to do the tail part,” he stated. The Jets must be ready from the opening faceoff.

As the Jets aim to build on their winning momentum, player Logan Stanley emphasized the team’s commitment to improving every day. “We’re not satisfied, and we have an end goal that we’re trying to reach,” he said, highlighting the desire to continue developing as a team.
