Andrew Wiggins Might Be on the Move to Miami Heat

MIAMI, Fla. — Former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins may soon find himself in a new city as the Miami Heat explore offseason trades. After playing only 17 games in the 2025 season, Wiggins’ future with the Heat looks uncertain.
The Heat are reportedly interested in acquiring a superstar or All-Star to pair with Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo. Wiggins could be central to any trade package the team puts together. His two-way skills make him an attractive asset for teams looking to build.
According to ClutchPoints, one potential blockbuster trade would send Wiggins to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for guard Darius Garland. The proposed trade details include Wiggins, along with Kyle Anderson, Pelle Larsson, the No. 20 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and a 2029 first-round pick that is top-10 protected, going to Cleveland.
“Darius Garland would offer the Heat an elite shot creator to complement Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, while Cleveland would receive veteran depth and future assets,” the article stated.
However, a new trio of Garland, Herro, and Adebayo may not be enough to compete against stronger Eastern Conference teams like the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Indiana Pacers.
Heat team president Pat Riley appears determined to avoid a repeat of last season’s roster. Acquiring Garland while letting Wiggins go could revamp the team, but Riley might still aim higher by pursuing stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo or Kevin Durant first.
If those deals fall through, reaching out to the Cavaliers for Garland could serve as a backup plan for Miami.
