Artem Dovbyk’s Hat-Trick Leads Girona FC to Victory over Sevilla

Girona FC reclaimed the top spot in LaLiga with a commanding 5-1 home victory over Sevilla on Sunday, thanks to a quick-fire hat-trick from their striker Artem Dovbyk. The surprise package Girona now sits alone at the summit with 52 points, one ahead of Sevilla’s city rivals, Real Betis.

In an early setback for Girona, Sevilla took the lead through Youssef En-Nesyri’s goal after just 10 minutes. However, the hosts quickly responded as Dovbyk netted a towering header from Savio’s cross in the 13th minute to make it 1-1.

Dovbyk continued his scoring spree and put Girona ahead two minutes later, capitalizing on a breakaway and converting a well-placed pass from Cristhian Stuani. The Ukrainian international completed his hat-trick in the 19th minute with a fine low shot, taking his tally to 14 league goals for the season.

Girona further extended their lead in the 55th minute as Savio found the back of the net, courtesy of another assist from Savio. Substitute Aleix Garcia added insult to injury for Sevilla, sealing the rout with a goal in the final minute of regular time.

The crowd at Municipal de Montilivi witnessed a dominant performance from Girona, who outclassed Sevilla both on the scoreboard and in the statistics.

Girona FC’s last outing was a hard-fought goalless draw against UD Almeria, where Daley Blind impressed with three shots despite his team being outshot 20 to 6. On the other hand, Sevilla suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to Deportivo Alaves, with Lucas Ocampos and Rafael Mir Vicente finding the back of the net for their side.
