Bayer Leverkusen Forward Nathan Tella Highlights Chemistry With Alejandro Grimaldo In Bundesliga Triumph

Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella has emphasized the strong partnership he shares with Spanish defender Alejandro Grimaldo, stressing how their on-field chemistry has significantly contributed to Bayer Leverkusen‘s success in a recent Bundesliga win.

Tella, who made a €23.3 million switch from Burnley to Bayer Leverkusen last summer, has rapidly established himself as a key player for Die Werkself, racking up five goals and one assist in 16 appearances.

Despite a somewhat sluggish start to the season, Tella has now solidified his position as a regular starter, playing a crucial role in Bayer Leverkusen’s pursuit of the Bundesliga title.

The 24-year-old forward showcased his prowess with a standout performance against Wolfsburg, scoring his fifth goal of the season with a well-timed header from a Grimaldo cross to put Die Werkself in the lead.

Following his goal, Tella made a beeline for Grimaldo, who had been instrumental in the attacking play on Bayer Leverkusen’s left side, underscoring the camaraderie between the pair.

Reflecting on his fruitful partnership with Grimaldo, Tella remarked, “Out of my five goals in the league, Grimaldo has assisted four, so I always go to celebrate with him because I’m so happy to play with him. He gets me a lot of goals and opportunities, and it’s nice to play with him.”

“Before the game against Wolfsburg, we spoke and agreed that if I scored, I’d go to him. It was nice to celebrate with him. But more importantly, it was good to secure the win for the team,” Tella added.

Bayer Leverkusen currently holds the top spot in the Bundesliga standings, boasting a ten-point lead over second-placed Bayern Munich, much to the credit of their impressive form under the guidance of manager Xabi Alonso.

Xabi Alonso’s squad is determined to finish the season on a high note and potentially end Bayern Munich’s dominant reign in German football.
