Stranded T20 World Cup 2024 winning players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, and Sanju Samson have been replaced with Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana for the first two T20 International matches of the upcoming India vs Zimbabwe five-match series, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday.

The five-match series is set to commence on Saturday, July 6. The trio, who were initially supposed to join the Indian squad in Zimbabwe but got stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, will now fly back to India with the ICC T20 World Cup winning team captained by Rohit Sharma, before heading to Zimbabwe for the series.

Coached by former Indian cricketer and head of the National Cricket Academy, VVS Laxman, the Indian team for the India vs Zimbabwe series will be led by Shubman Gill. The updated Indian T20I squad includes Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana.

Shivam Dube, who will join the squad as a replacement for the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy, is now part of the revamped squad. The replacements had to be made as the trio of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, and Sanju Samson could not travel to Zimbabwe as planned.

The Indian T20I squad includes notable names like Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, and Tushar Deshpande alongside the newly added players. Notably, Sai Sudharsan had played under Shubman Gill’s captaincy in the IPL 2024 for Gujarat Titans.
