Boise State Football Homecoming Game

BOISE, Idaho — Boise State University is gearing up for their homecoming game against the New Mexico Lobos on Saturday. The Broncos aim to bounce back after suffering a 28-7 loss to Notre Dame last week.

Boise State faced significant challenges during their last game, recording only 100 rushing yards, a season-low. Their quarterback, Maddux Madsen, struggled with four interceptions, and the team also had 112 penalty yards. Boise State’s traditional ground game was shut down, but their defense had its moments, stopping Notre Dame twice on fourth downs.

“There’s not a quarterback in the country that I would rather have than Maddux Madsen,” said Boise State head coach Danielson. “Maddux is our guy, period.” However, the team is facing worries with tight end Matt Lauter potentially missing the game due to concussion protocols.

New Mexico, led by head coach Jason Eck, enters with a record of 3-2, looking to improve after their own recent struggles. Last week, they lost to San Jose State despite trailing only 17-21 at halftime. The Lobos also threw three interceptions, highlighting the difficulty they faced on offense.

Eck praised Boise State’s secondary, calling them elite. “They are big, physical, and fast. They tackle well and do a great job in man coverage,” he noted. Eck’s experience at Idaho and the following transfer of several players, including his son Jaxton Eck, has added an intriguing layer to New Mexico’s strategy.

As the two teams prepare for the clash, Boise State’s defense will be crucial in controlling New Mexico’s attack, while the Lobos’ offense, which includes talented transfers, will look to exploit any weakness in the Broncos’ game.

Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM MDT, and fans can catch the game on Fox Sports 1.
