Charli XCX Leads 2025 Brit Awards with Five Nominations
LONDON, UK — Charli XCX dominates the 2025 Brit Awards nominations with five nods, including Album of the Year for her chart-topping record *Brat*. The British pop star is closely followed by Dua Lipa, The Last Dinner Party, Ezra Collective, and Myles Smith, each securing four nominations. The awards ceremony, set for March 1 at London’s O2 Arena, will celebrate the best in British and international music.
Charli XCX’s *Brat* has been a cultural phenomenon since its release, inspiring trends and even earning a mention in the Collins Dictionary. The album’s standout track, *Guess* featuring Billie Eilish, is nominated for Song of the Year. Despite her success, women remain underrepresented in this year’s nominations, accounting for just 34.7% of the 98 slots. Male acts dominate with 53%, while mixed-gender acts and collaborations make up the remaining 12.3%.
This year’s nominations also highlight a mix of legacy acts and rising stars. The Beatles earned their first Brit nomination since 1977 for their song *Now and Then*, while The Cure secured three nods for their first album since 2008. Myles Smith, winner of the Rising Star Award, is also up for Best New Artist and Song of the Year for *Stargazing*.
In the international categories, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Chappell Roan each received two nominations. Roan expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “The UK has always shown me so much love and championed me through these past few years.”
The Brit Awards will also honor producers and songwriters ahead of the ceremony, with performances and hosts yet to be announced. Last year’s event saw Raye make history with six wins, setting a high bar for this year’s celebration of musical excellence.
