Collin Morikawa Hires New Caddie for Truist Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Collin Morikawa will have a new caddie next week at the Truist Championship. He has hired veteran caddie Joe Greiner after parting ways with J.J. Jakovac, who had been with Morikawa since he turned pro in 2019.
The decision was first reported by CBS golf commentator Colt Knost through a social media post. Efforts to reach Morikawa’s management team for comment have not yet yielded a response.
“When we first heard this, I thought there’s no way this is happening,” Knost said during his Sirius/XM PGA Tour Radio show.
Jakovac confirmed to Golfweek that he is no longer caddying for Morikawa via a text message. He was a three-time All-American at Chico State and won the NCAA Division II individual national title twice. Jakovac was also named the winner of the Jack Nicklaus Award in 2004.
Before working with Morikawa, Jakovac caddied for Matt Bettencourt and had stints with players like Peter Tomasulo and Ryan Moore. He reached out to Morikawa’s management team before the golfer turned pro and has been by his side ever since.
During their time together, Morikawa won two major championships and six times on the PGA Tour, reaching No. 2 in the world rankings. Greiner previously caddied for Max Homa, with whom he won six times, but parted ways last month as Homa faced a slump.
Greiner briefly caddied for Justin Thomas at the Masters and the RBC Heritage, where Thomas secured a victory, while veteran caddie Matt Minister was recovering from a back injury.
Morikawa is currently ranked No. 4 in the world. He finished second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, marking one of two runner-up finishes this season among three top-10 results.
However, Morikawa has not won since the 2023 Zozo Championship and missed the cut at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last week.
