Diners Hospitalised After Mistakenly Consuming Dry Ice At Gurugram Restaurant

Five individuals were rushed to the hospital after ingesting a hazardous substance at a dining establishment in Gurugram. According to reports, the group, including Neha Sabarwal, Manika Goenka, Pritika Rustagi, Deepak Aroda, and Himani, were dining at Laforessta cafe located in Sector 90.

Ankit Kumar, another member of the group, did not partake in the substance. Upon consuming what they believed was a mouth freshener, the diners experienced a burning sensation in their mouths, followed by vomiting blood. Ankit quickly took action, calling the police and arranging for medical assistance at Aarvy Hospital.

The attending doctor at Aarvy Hospital examined the suspected ‘mouth freshener’ sample, which was later identified as dry ice by Ankit. The doctor warned that the substance could be fatal, prompting Ankit to file a complaint against the restaurant staff.

Police have subsequently registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the waiter who served the substance, entailing charges under IPC sections related to causing harm by poison and criminal conspiracy. The patients were diagnosed with chemical burns poisoning by the treating physician.

Gagan, the manager of the restaurant, attributed the incident to staff negligence. He stated that the staff mistakenly distributed the hazardous substance post-meal service. Police investigations are ongoing, and samples have been collected for further analysis.
