Family Feud Contestant Nears Record-Breaking Fast Money Win
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A recent episode of the long-running game show “Family Feud” left audiences stunned as contestant Lisa Doughty came within two points of achieving a record-breaking Fast Money win. The moment, which aired in 2023, marked one of the closest near-misses in the show’s history under host Steve Harvey.
In the Fast Money round, two members of the winning family compete to score a combined 200 points by guessing the most popular survey answers. The first player has 20 seconds to answer five questions, while the second player must make up any remaining points without repeating answers. A perfect score of 200 points has never been achieved by a single player during Harvey’s tenure as host.
Doughty, however, came tantalizingly close. She scored a remarkable 198 points in her round, hitting every number-one answer in just 18 seconds. Her sister, Amy, secured the remaining two points with her first answer, bringing the total to 200 and winning the family $20,000. “It was a slam dunk for her sister,” Harvey quipped after the win.
The performance shattered the previous record of 193 points set by contestant Courtney Kline in an earlier episode. Kline’s mother, Mary Anne, had also secured the remaining points with her first answer, ensuring the family’s victory.
Not all Fast Money rounds end in triumph, however. In a 2014 episode, contestant Tim Sass scored 182 points, leaving his teammate Anna with just 18 points to reach the 200-point goal. Despite the seemingly manageable task, Anna failed to score a single point, delivering answers that included “four” to the question, “What chance would men say they have of dating a girl who’s a 10?” and passing on “Name a noisy insect.”
Harvey, known for his comedic reactions, has often expressed disbelief at such outcomes. “I ain’t never seen this happen before!” he exclaimed during one particularly memorable moment, smacking a contestant with a cue card in jest.
“Family Feud,” created by Bill Todman, first aired in 1977 and has become a staple of American television. The show’s unscripted moments, often fueled by Harvey’s quick wit, continue to captivate audiences. The Fast Money round remains a highlight, offering both high-stakes drama and occasional heartbreak.
The show is available to stream in the U.S. on YouTube TV, where fans can relive these unforgettable moments.
