Final Eliminations Excite at NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway showcased exhilarating final eliminations from April 11 to 13, 2025, featuring some of the top names in drag racing.
Top Fuel driver Steve Torrence solidified his status as the most successful racer in four-wide history by advancing to the final quad for the fifth time in six events. The Texas native has amassed six four-wide titles throughout his career and has a noteworthy elimination record of 27-7 over his last 13 appearances. “I really didn’t like four-wide when it started, but when you start winning like we did, it changes your opinion pretty quick,” Torrence said.
Torrence’s close friend, Antron Brown, boasts the highest number of final quad appearances in the professional categories during the four-wide era, reaching the finals 11 times. This weekend marks Brown’s 950th Top Fuel elimination round and 1,300th overall race day. “I’m grateful for every opportunity to race,” Brown commented.
Former NASCAR champion Tony Stewart continued his love affair with the Las Vegas venue, winning his first-round quad against Torrence and a field of seasoned drivers, including veteran racer Rob Passey. Stewart’s success in Las Vegas spans across various racing disciplines, making him one of the few competitors to have won on all tracks at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
In the Funny Car division, Matt Hagan aims to extend his streak of winning at least one event each season for 12 consecutive years. “You look at someone like Ron Capps, who didn’t win a single race last year. You have to be grateful for every win light that comes on because they are so hard to come by,” Hagan stated, reflecting on the competitiveness of the Funny Car class this season.
The elimination rounds proved challenging as Jack Beckman, previously a qualifying frontrunner, faced difficulties in both of his runs, leading to only a couple of qualifying bonus points. “We actually didn’t make it down the track two runs in a row,” Beckman lamented but noted that past challenges had previously led to triumphs.
Ron Capps, a former event victor in Las Vegas, faced a rollercoaster of races with a crash and a recent win. Capps won the four-wide event in 2017 and has fond memories of his time at the Vegas track. “This city holds a lot of special memories for me as a team owner,” he remarked.
In Pro Stock, Greg Anderson and Dallas Glenn dominated qualifying, each making it to the final rounds. Anderson expressed his satisfaction, stating, “Even if I lose, it’s a KB Titan car that wins.” Glenn, marking his own success at the event, emphasized his strong connection to the venue, recalling it as the site of several milestones in his career.
The NHRA 4-Wide Nationals continues to prove itself as a spectacle for fans and racers alike. With high stakes and thrilling moments, each competitor leaves enthusiasts eager for the next round of heats.
