First Trailer for ‘The Old Guard 2’ Released

HOLLYWOOD, CA — The first trailer for “The Old Guard 2” was released on May 8, 2025, showcasing the return of franchise star Charlize Theron in another mission to save humanity. The sequel continues the story of Andy, who must lead a group of immortal warriors against a powerful enemy.
The official logline describes a plot where Andy’s team grapples with an unexpected challenge: the resurfacing of a long-lost immortal, complicating their mission to protect humanity from threats.
Alongside Theron, the cast includes Kiandra “KiKi” Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Veronica Ngo, Henry Golding, Uma Thurman, and Kamil Nozynski. Victoria Mahoney directs the film, with a script penned by Leandro Fernandez, Greg Rucka, and Sarah L. Walker.
Producers of the sequel are Theron, A.J. Dix, David Ellison, Marc Evans, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Beth Kono, and Gina Prince-Bythewood. Executive producers include Rucka, Marco Valerio Pugini, and Denis L. Stewart. “The Old Guard 2” is based on the graphic novel written by Rucka and illustrated by Fernandez.
The original “Old Guard,” released in 2020, achieved significant viewership with 72 million households streaming it within the first four weeks on Netflix. The sequel’s release had been delayed, with Theron noting that a changeover at Netflix affected their post-production schedule, which was halted shortly after it began.
