The National Weather Service has declared a flash flood warning for Coconino County, effective from 6:03 p.m. on July 20, lasting until 7:45 p.m. on the same day. The urgent alert was issued in response to the heavy rain generated by thunderstorms occurring in the region, particularly between the areas of Strawberry and Pine.

According to Doppler radar observations, the rainfall in this vicinity has ranged from 2 to 4 inches. Ongoing flash flooding has been reported in Pine, where significant water flow has been noted through Pine Creek. Reports have emerged of water flooding into a local restaurant, with runoff levels reaching up to 3 feet.

This emergency situation raises serious concerns for life-threatening flash flooding, particularly at low-water crossings, creeks, and typically dry washes and roads. Residents are urged to exercise caution as conditions can rapidly deteriorate to dangerous levels.

Locations expected to be impacted by the flash flooding include Pine, Strawberry, Geronimo Estates, Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, and Fossil Springs Wilderness. This warning also covers specific recreational areas and camps, including the Geronimo Boy Scout Camp.

In addition, the warning encompasses parts of State Route 87, particularly between mile markers 264 and 273, and the creeks and washes in the area, especially West Webber Creek.

Local authorities and the National Weather Service have recommended that residents take this situation seriously and prepare for potential flooding. They stress the importance of staying informed about the approaching storms and understanding the associated risks.

For continual updates and more detailed information about weather conditions, residents are encouraged to follow local forecasts and heed any advisories issued by the National Weather Service and local emergency management agencies.
