Florida Panthers Host Panther Conservation Night and Face Challenges on the Ice
The Florida Panthers are gearing up for a significant event off the ice as they prepare to host Panther Conservation Night on Saturday, November 30. This special event, which will take place during their game against the Carolina Hurricanes at Amerant Bank Arena, aims to raise awareness and support for the conservation of the endangered Florida panther. The Panthers will debut exclusive special Panther Conservation jerseys designed by South Florida artist Dave Lavernia, which will be available for auction to benefit the Panthers Foundation. Fans can also purchase merchandise from the Panther Conservation collection, with a portion of the proceeds going towards panther conservation research.
In addition to the conservation efforts, the Panthers are facing challenges on the ice. The team has lost six of their last seven games and ranks 26th in the NHL in goals against. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, who had a stellar 2023-24 campaign, has been struggling, allowing 10 goals in his last two games. The team will need to rally behind Bobrovsky to get back on track, especially as they face strong opponents like the Toronto Maple Leafs, whom they played on November 27.
The game against the Maple Leafs highlighted the Panthers’ current struggles, with Toronto‘s strong defensive play and the absence of key players like Auston Matthews not hindering their performance. The Maple Leafs have won their last four games and rank second in the NHL in goals against. The Panthers’ next game is against the Carolina Hurricanes on November 29, followed by the conservation night event on November 30.
Throughout the Panther Conservation Night, fans will have the opportunity to learn more about the endangered Florida panther through various nonprofit organizations and interactive exhibits. The event will also feature a ‘Panther Cam’ from the Palm Beach Zoo, showcasing their Florida panther ‘Sassy’ in her habitat, and a photography exhibit by conservation photographer Carlton Ward Jr., which will debut later in the season.
