Former Scotland Rugby Captain Stuart Hogg Arrested In Hawick

Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg, a prominent figure in the rugby world, has been arrested and charged following an incident in his hometown of Hawick, as confirmed by local authorities.

On Sunday afternoon, officers from the Scottish Borders were alerted to reports of a disturbance at an address in Hawick, leading to Hogg’s arrest at approximately 5:20 pm.

Hogg, aged 31, was taken into custody at Hawick police station and subsequently charged, with plans for his appearance at the Jedburgh Sheriff Court at a later date on the horizon.

A representative from Police Scotland indicated that a comprehensive report detailing any alleged offenses will be forwarded to the procurator fiscal for further review.

The seasoned rugby player, who has an illustrious career including 100 caps for Scotland and multiple tours with the British & Irish Lions, is set to embark on a charity cycling challenge starting from Scotland to Italy in support of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

After a surprising retirement last summer, Hogg was recognized for his contributions to rugby union with an MBE in the 2024 New Year Honours, solidifying his legacy in the sport.

Throughout his club career, Hogg achieved success with teams like Glasgow Warriors and Exeter Chiefs, securing national and European titles along the way.

Not limited to the world of rugby, Hogg also co-owns the popular FF West End restaurant and cocktail bar in Glasgow with fellow ex-Scotland rugby international, Alastair Kellock.
