Audiences flocking out of the horror prequel ‘A Quiet Place: Day One‘ have been quietly raving about a certain feline star—Frodo, the cat played by Lupita Nyong-o. It’s not just the scary moments of the film that have caught their attention, but the adorable yet clever antics of Frodo, who has won hearts despite the film’s eerie setting.

Most reviews of ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ have even praised the performance of this phenomenal feline, highlighting that Frodo’s character adapts brilliantly to the creature-infested world. Unlike dogs, who might bark and draw too much attention in this suspenseful environment, Frodo quickly learns to navigate the terrifying landscape without making a sound.

Interestingly, there were actually two cats used for the role of Frodo on set. Director Michael Sarnoski recently appeared on CinemaBlend’s official podcast, ReelBlend, to discuss the film and reveal some behind-the-scenes secrets. He noted that having two cats was a conscious choice to avoid using computer-generated imagery (CGI) and to capture as much genuine feline behavior on camera as possible.

During the conversation, Sarnoski shared that he recognized the importance of Frodo’s character early on and how integral this cat was in making the film resonate with audiences. It’s evident that Frodo isn’t just a side character; he plays a significant role in the story, enhancing the movie’s appeal and highlighting the unique survival instincts of animals in the ‘A Quiet Place’ universe.
