It’s an exciting time for golf fans as the men’s golf tournament kicks off at the Paris Olympics, beginning with the first round on Thursday. A total of sixty of the top golfers from around the world, including reigning champion Xander Schauffele, are competing for the sought-after Olympic men’s individual gold medal.

Among the competitors is Schauffele, who recently enjoyed his second major championship win this year. He claimed his title in July, just two months after another impressive victory. However, he won’t have an easy path as he faces tough rivals like Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, who are also vying for the top spot.

The Olympic men’s golf tournament follows a straightforward format: the winner is determined by the golfer who has the lowest total strokes after playing 72 holes. Unlike regular tour events, there are no cuts in Olympic golf, meaning all competitors will play all rounds.

The tournament is set to run from August 1 to August 4, with rounds scheduled early in the morning, from 3 a.m. to 6:39 a.m. ET. Fans can catch the action on the Golf Channel and other platforms.

This year’s golf competition will be held at Le Golf National, where athletes are expected to deliver thrilling performances. Team USA is represented by the defending gold medalist Schauffele, alongside fellow stars like two-time major champion Collin Morikawa, Scottie Scheffler, and recent U.S. Open winner Wyndham Clark.

As for the player rankings, Schauffele and Scheffler hold impressive positions at No. 1 and No. 2, while Clark and Morikawa follow closely at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Other international stars such as Rory McIlroy, Ludvig Ã…berg, and Jon Rahm also rank within the top ten.

In the last games held in Tokyo, the competition saw an exciting podium with Xander Schauffele winning gold, Slovakia’s Rory Sabbatini taking silver, and C.T. Pan from Chinese Taipei securing bronze. Golf returns to the Olympics for the fifth time, having previously appeared in the early 1900s and returning for the Tokyo Olympics.

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee offers cash rewards to winning athletes, with gold medalists receiving $37,500. The winner of the men’s tournament will also secure a spot in major future tournaments, including the Players Championship.

Looking ahead, the women’s tournament at the Paris Games will occur from August 7 to August 10, where athletes like Nelly Korda aim to defend their title as Olympic champions.
