Hawks Face Injury Concerns After Big Victory

Hawthorn‘s vice-captain, Dylan Moore, shared some good news about his housemate and team’s star, Will Day. After a serious collision during the game against Richmond, scans revealed that Day has no major collarbone injury. However, he won’t be playing in the upcoming match against North Melbourne.

Moore said Day was in “good spirits” despite the situation and that he was initially worried he had a broken collarbone. The injury turned out to be a partial dislocation where his collarbone connects to his chest, which means there is a chance he could be back for the finals.

Coach Sam Mitchell noted that they have consulted with specialists, and if surgery is not required, they are hopeful Day will be available if the Hawks make it to the elimination final.

In another development, the team is optimistic about defender Jack Scrimshaw returning after undergoing surgery for a finger dislocation. His injury was a concern but Mitchell mentioned it could be manageable, and he might play this weekend.

Jai Newcombe also faced a scare during the game but reassured fans that he is sore but not injured after landing awkwardly. He expressed that winning makes the physical toll easier to bear.

On a brighter note, rookie Calsher Dear shined in the match against Richmond, scoring three goals and showing remarkable growth throughout the season. Moore praised Dear’s progress, recalling how newer players often lack football professionalism, but Dear has stepped up impressively.

Overall, while the Hawks celebrate their significant win, they are mindful of their injury list as they prepare for their crucial match next weekend.
