Hibernian Celtic Football Match

GLASGOW, Scotland — Hibernian Football Club faces Celtic today at Celtic Park in a crucial match for both teams in the Scottish Premiership. This is Hibs’ fourth visit to Celtic Park this season, having previously faced setbacks against Celtic in both cup matches.

The last meeting between these teams occurred on December 7, 2024, where Celtic secured a 3-0 victory. However, the score doesn’t reflect Hibs’ performance as they missed multiple scoring opportunities during the match.

Since that encounter, Hibernian has significantly improved, climbing to third in the league standings after losing just once in their last 19 league outings. They are currently riding a wave of form, garnering more points than any other team in the division during that span.

Today’s match holds additional stakes for Kilmarnock, who are chasing points to avoid relegation. They have won three of their last four league games and could secure safety with another victory. Dundee, on the other hand, has been struggling, with only one win in their last 13 encounters against Kilmarnock.

In the lower half of the table, St Johnstone is looking to end a three-match losing streak and faces Ross County, who are mired in a six-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Hibs fans had hoped to see more fringe players included in Celtic’s lineup, following coach Brendan Rodgers‘ comments about resting players for the imminent Scottish Cup final. However, with key players like Kasper Schmeichel and Nicolas Kuhn included, Celtic’s squad remains strong.

Hibernian’s head coach, David Gray, has only made one change from last week’s 3-1 win over Dundee United, with Josh Campbell coming in for Junior Hoilett, indicating confidence in his starting lineup as they seek to build on their recent success.

“We need to keep pushing and taking it one game at a time,” said Gray. “The result today is crucial for us to maintain our position and aim for European football next season.”

The match kicks off shortly, and both teams are eager to claim crucial points in their respective battles.
