IMD Delhi Forecast: Rain Alert Issued for Delhi-NCR Regions with Thunderstorms
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning concerning a sudden change in weather conditions in the Delhi-NCR region. Residents witnessed dark clouds hovering in the sky followed by gusty winds throughout Saturday.
Prior to this, the capital faced intense heat during the day, causing discomfort among the people. Subsequently, around three in the afternoon, heavy clouds rolled in, and light showers graced various parts of the region.
IMD earlier anticipated a series of Western disturbances and elevated moisture levels from the Arabian Sea, leading to moderate rainfall in both hilly and plain areas.
Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and several central areas have been warned of potential storms, lightning, hailstorms, and high-speed winds from Saturday to Monday.
IMD has expressed concern over thunderstorms striking along with possible power outages in the Delhi-NCR region. The department highlighted that strong winds could cause damage to trees, plants, standing crops, and posed risks for both humans and animals in open areas due to lightning strikes.
