Injury Update: Jaren Jackson Jr. Exits Game Against Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. left Tuesday night’s game against the Utah Jazz with an apparent facial injury during the third quarter. Before his exit, Jackson scored 19 points, grabbed three rebounds, and blocked two shots.
Jackson, a key player for the Grizzlies who averages 22.4 points and 1.59 blocks per game, was seen heading to the locker room after sustaining the injury. Jay Huff took his place on the court as the team continued to battle the Jazz, who are struggling this season with a record of 16-56.
“We’re not sure about the extent of Jaren’s injury yet. We’ll evaluate him after the game,” said Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins. “He’s a big part of our team; we’ll be hoping for the best.”
As the Grizzlies faced the Jazz, they aimed to end a three-game losing streak while competing for playoff positioning in the Western Conference. The team currently holds a record of 43-28, ranking second in their division. In comparison, the Jazz, on the verge of elimination from playoff contention, have lost two games in a row.
This matchup presented a crucial opportunity for the Grizzlies to regain momentum, while the Jazz dealt with significant injuries, missing key players like John Collins due to a sprained ankle and Lauri Markkanen, whose status remains uncertain.
The game continued with the Grizzlies pushing forward. “We have to focus on getting the win, regardless of who is on the court,” said Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane. “We trust our teammates and play the game.”
The injury reports preceding the game highlighted struggles on both sides, with various players sidelined. Memphis is also missing Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke due to injuries, which further complicates their playoff aspirations.
As of now, Jackson Jr. has returned to the bench, but updates on his status will continue to unfold as the Grizzlies seek a vital victory this late in the season.
