Las Vegas Raiders Running Back Josh Jacobs

LAS VEGAS, NV – Josh Jacobs, the former running back for the Las Vegas Raiders, has signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Green Bay Packers after his tenure with the Raiders came to an end.

Jacobs’ departure comes as the Raiders embrace a new leadership under head coach Pete Carroll, who previously guided the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory in 2014. Carroll’s first major move was to secure Geno Smith as the team’s new quarterback.

The Raiders made headlines earlier this offseason when they selected Ashton Jeanty as their first-round draft pick, a running back many are comparing to NFL star Saquon Barkley. The moves signal a shift in direction for the team, particularly following Jacobs’ successful run with the organization.

Jacobs, who joined the Raiders in 2019, became a crucial part of their offensive lineup, even leading the league in rushing yards in 2022 with 1,653 yards. However, after five seasons with the team, he felt he was not respected by the organization, especially as coaching changes continued to affect team dynamics.

During an appearance on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, Jacobs expressed frustration about how he was treated, stating, “There comes a point where you just can’t keep disrespecting me.” He highlighted that he had been made to prove himself again after three 1,000-yard seasons.

Despite Jacobs’ contributions, the Raiders chose to move on following a disappointing 2024 season, where they ranked last in rushing yards per game. At one time, Jacobs was offered a $10 million per year contract, but he opted to join the Packers to continue his career in a new environment.

Now, Jacobs begins a new chapter in Green Bay, hoping to contribute to his new team’s success while recalling his time in Las Vegas.
