Juan Mata Joins Western Sydney Wanderers for Upcoming A-League Season
Western Sydney Wanderers FC has announced the signing of renowned football player Juan Mata for the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-League season. Mata, a winner of the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA European Championship, will bring substantial talent and experience to the team.
Beginning his football career at the age of 12 at the Real Oviedo Academy, Mata progressed through his early years at Real Madrid, before making a significant impact at Valencia. His performance at Valencia contributed to the club’s Copa del Rey victory in 2008.
After making over 170 appearances and scoring 46 goals for Valencia, Mata moved to Chelsea, where he won multiple prestigious titles including the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup. He was highly regarded during his time at Chelsea, being voted Player of the Year twice.
In 2014, Mata transferred to Manchester United for a then-record fee, where he played for nine seasons under notable managers such as David Moyes and José Mourinho. His contributions were vital to the team’s successes, culminating in 285 appearances, 51 goals, and notable trophies including the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.
Following his time in the Premier League, Mata continued his career in Turkey and Japan, playing for Galatasaray and Vissel Kobe, respectively, achieving league victories in both countries.
A member of Spain‘s Golden Generation, Mata was part of the national team that won the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the UEFA Championship in 2012, featuring in 40 matches and scoring 10 goals.
