Karl's 50th Birthday Celebration On Today Show

Karl Stefanovic just landed back from covering the Olympics in Paris, but the party wasn’t over yet. Today, he celebrated his big 5-0 on the Today show, and his co-hosts made sure to celebrate this special occasion in style.

With a big smile, Sarah Abo kicked off the festivities, saying, ‘We love you so much and to celebrate this huge occasion, we got to take a look back at some of the memorable moments from the past five decades.’ A special video highlighting Karl’s career was played, bringing back some of his biggest highlights.

But the surprises didn’t end there! Karl’s mum, Jenny, made a heartfelt appearance, traveling all the way from Yorkey’s Knob. Seeing her, Karl became a bit emotional, jokingly adding, ‘I’m so sorry, my hands are sweaty but nice to see you, mummy,’ before giving her a warm hug.

Jenny shared some loving words about her son, saying, ‘It’s great to be here, you’ve been a great son, when you remember to actually ring your mum,’ which prompted laughter from everyone. She continued, ‘You’ve been a great brother to your siblings and you’ve had a great profession which has been terrific. Who would get up at 3am every morning for 20 years if they didn’t love it?’

Sylvia Jeffreys, Karl’s sister-in-law and Today Extra host, added her thoughts, calling him a ‘treasure’. She praised him for being a ‘beautiful man, beautiful friend, and wonderful person,’ and highlighted how he inspires everyone around him.
