Jericho Sims Nba Knicks Trade Deadline

NEW YORK — The New York Knicks are expected to trade center Jericho Sims before Thursday afternoon’s NBA trade deadline, according to sources cited by ESPN‘s Tim Bontemps. Multiple teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Denver Nuggets, have expressed interest in acquiring the 26-year-old big man.

Sims, who is on a $2.09 million expiring contract, has played sparingly this season under head coach Tom Thibodeau. In 39 appearances, including five starts, he has averaged 1.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per game. The Knicks are reportedly seeking a second-round pick in exchange for Sims, whose departure could free up roster and financial flexibility for the team.

“Sims is the most likely Knicks player to be moved in an in-season deal,” said James L. Edwards III of The Athletic. SNY.tv’s Ian Begley echoed this sentiment, calling a Sims trade “likely.” The Knicks, who are close to the first-apron hard cap, have been unable to sign a 15th player this season. Trading Sims without taking back a player in return would open two roster spots, allowing the team to sign free agents for the remainder of the season.

Despite Sims’ limited role, his athleticism and expiring contract make him an attractive option for teams in need of depth at center. However, league sources indicate that the Knicks are not actively discussing trades involving Mitchell Robinson, another player previously rumored to be on the trading block.

Sims, a four-year veteran with the Knicks, has struggled to secure consistent playing time, even with injuries affecting the team’s frontcourt. His departure could mark the end of his tenure in New York as the Knicks look to retool their roster ahead of the postseason.
