Chad Caton Swatting Incident Police Response

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A high-profile conservative media personality is shaken after an alleged politically motivated swatting incident occurred at his home in the Arrowhead community early Monday morning.

Chad Caton, who describes himself as a local influencer, reported waking up around 3 a.m. to loud banging on his front door. Believing someone was trying to break in, he and his wife exited their bedroom with their hands raised as law enforcement officers instructed them to do so.

“Please don’t shoot my wife, please don’t shoot my wife. I’m being swatted right now,” Caton recalled telling officers as they arrived. He reported that police were drawn with weapons and flashed lights into their home.

Officials confirmed they received an overnight call about a potential break-in at the residence but found no signs of a disturbance upon arrival. Officers indicated that the call reported someone armed inside the home.

Caton expressed his anger over the situation, stating, “You wanna come after me on Twitter and stuff, I’m fine with that. You don’t like my politics fine, but this isn’t what we’re supposed to be about.” He believes he was targeted due to his political views, particularly his support for former President Donald Trump.

Citing a rise in swatting incidents targeting conservative figures, he reflected on the dangers of such actions. “This isn’t a game. We’re talking about people’s lives. For what, because I like Donald Trump? Really? It’s disgusting and it’s dangerous,” he remarked.

In light of this incident, Caton reported that he and his wife had previously discussed procedures in case they became victims of swatting, especially since two of their personal friends had experienced similar situations.

Caton took precautions by placing his dog, Diesel, in a secure room to protect him during the incident. He emphasized his gratitude for the Horry County Police Department‘s response during the frightening encounter.

In a statement, the FBI acknowledged they are aware of the increasing number of swatting calls targeting social media influencers and indicated that further information would be released as the situation develops.

The investigation remains ongoing.
