Seattle Mariners Boston Red Sox Baseball Game

BOSTON, Massachusetts — The Seattle Mariners clinched their second straight victory on Thursday afternoon, defeating the Boston Red Sox 4-3 at Fenway Park.

Mitch Garver led the Mariners’ offense with a two-RBI double in the first inning. Bryan Woo, the Mariners’ starting pitcher, delivered a solid performance, striking out eight while allowing only two runs and three hits over six innings.

“It felt great to contribute to the team’s success today,” Garver said. “We’ve been playing well, and it was important to keep that momentum going.”

Alex Bregman sparked the Red Sox’s offense with a solo home run in the first inning, cutting Seattle’s lead to 2-1. He finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs but his efforts were not enough to overcome the Mariners.

Seattle took an early lead when Garver’s double in the first inning scored two runs. The Red Sox responded with Bregman’s homer, but the Mariners answered back with two more runs in the second. Dylan Moore hit a sacrifice fly, and Julio Rodríguez drove in another run with an RBI groundout.

“We got to Garrett Crochet early, and that really set the tone for us,” Woo said about the Mariners’ early scoring.

Although Crochet struck out nine players, he had difficulty limiting the Mariners’ offense, ultimately throwing 110 pitches before finishing five innings.

The Red Sox managed to score again in the third inning when Jarren Duran hit a double and later came home on Bregman’s line-drive single, reducing the gap to 4-2.

Despite loading the bases in the seventh inning, the Mariners could not add to their lead, and the game remained tense in the final innings.

After the Red Sox scored a run in the eighth, making it 4-3, the Mariners’ closer, Andrés Muñoz, came in to secure the win. He recorded his ninth save of the season despite allowing a two-out walk before striking out two Boston batters.

The Mariners are now poised to continue their winning streak as they look ahead to their next series. “Winning in Fenway is always tough,” Woo said. “It feels good to have done it twice in a row.”
