Gaffney South Carolina Powerball Winner

GAFFNEY, S.C. — An Upstate woman is set to buy her dream home after winning $150,000 in the Powerball drawing held on February 5. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, matched all but one number on her PowerPlay ticket.

“I bought the ticket after work on a Tuesday,” she recalled. “I went to check it during my lunch break on Friday.” At the Corner Store on Hyatt Street, the clerk scanned her ticket and revealed it was worth more than the $500 limit the store could pay. Unsure of the exact prize amount, the winner requested time off from work to travel to the lottery’s office in Columbia for confirmation.

While en route, she reached out to family and friends, who mentioned they had heard about a ticket sold in Gaffney that had won $150,000. “I started to wonder if maybe it was mine,” she said.

Upon arriving at the lottery office, she was filled with excitement and nerves. Lottery representatives confirmed her as the $150,000 winner. “It felt like a dream,” she expressed.

The Corner Store #1, where the winning ticket was purchased, will receive a $1,500 commission for selling the ticket. The store staff expressed their joy over the win, hoping it inspires more locals to try their luck.
