NBA Player Isaiah Stewart Arrested for Assaulting Phoenix Suns’ Drew Eubanks
Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart was arrested for assaulting Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks in a pregame altercation according to Phoenix Police Department.
The incident took place at the parking lot area of the Footprint Center in Phoenix just before the scheduled game between the two teams.
Stewart, aged 22, allegedly punched Eubanks, 27, leading to a minor injury before security intervened to separate the players.
Following statements from witnesses and both players involved, Stewart was arrested for assault, issued a citation, and subsequently released by the authorities.
The Detroit Pistons acknowledged the incident, stating they are currently in the process of gathering information surrounding the altercation.
The Suns, in a categorical denouncement of the assault, expressed full support for Eubanks and emphasized that such acts of violence are intolerable, vowing to collaborate with both law enforcement and the NBA on the matter.
Pistons coach Monty Williams, while refraining from premature judgment, criticized the Suns’ swift condemnation, highlighting the need for a comprehensive investigation by the league.
Isaiah Stewart, known for his physical style of play, had been previously involved in altercations on the court, notably with basketball icon LeBron James in 2021, resulting in suspensions for both players.
NBA star Kevin Durant added his perspective, urging a focus on the game and a collective move past the off-court incident, reiterating solidarity with Drew Eubanks amidst the ongoing developments.
