Netflix Renews ‘The Gentlemen’ for a Second Season
Netflix has officially renewed the series adaptation of “The Gentlemen,” initially directed by Guy Ritchie, for a second season. The show will feature a total of eight new episodes, continuing to explore the intricacies of crime and inheritance, with Theo James and Kaya Scodelario reprising their roles as partners Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass, respectively.
Guy Ritchie, the well-known filmmaker originally behind the 2019 Miramax film “The Gentlemen,” will return to the series as both director and writer, alongside co-writer Matthew Read. Although the second season’s additional cast members have yet to be announced, filming is expected to commence in 2025.
The television adaptation is set within the same narrative universe as Ritchie’s 2019 film, which featured stars such as Charlie Hunnam, Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell, and Jeremy Strong. However, the series narrative diverges by not including any characters from the film.
The inaugural season introduced Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, as he unexpectedly inherits the title of Duke of Halstead along with his father’s extensive country estate. It is within these grounds Eddie discovers the illegal business ventures led by Susie Glass and her imprisoned father Bobby, portrayed by Ray Winstone, centered around a lucrative cannabis empire.
According to the announcements made by Netflix, the second season will see Eddie and Susie at the helm of this expanding weed empire, facing off against a world filled with competitive and potentially dangerous rivals.
As the production progresses, more details regarding the storyline and any new characters are anticipated to emerge. As of now, fans of the show are eagerly looking forward to seeing how the plot thickens around the aristocratic and criminal exploits of Horniman and Glass.
