New Rivian x iKamper Tent Promises Adventure Without Sacrificing Range

LOS ANGELES, CA — Rivian has collaborated with camping hardware maker iKamper to introduce the Skycamp Mini, a special edition tent designed for its R1T and R1S electric vehicles. This all-season, two-person tent is engineered to offer outdoor enthusiasts comfort and convenience while minimizing the impact on electric range.

Priced at $5,495, the Rivian-branded Skycamp Mini features a hardshell case that mounts on the truck bed’s rack and folds away for aerodynamics. Unlike traditional rooftop tents, this design claims to have minimal drag, thus potentially preserving vehicle range during road trips. Rivian notes that when mounted on the truck’s bed, users may experience a 5-10% range reduction, while placement on the roof could lead to a 10-15% decrease depending on speed and weather conditions.

The tent comes equipped with a deluxe self-inflating mattress and a fold-out ladder for easy access. iKamper stated that the installation process is straightforward, taking only about 30 minutes with a single Allen key and less time in subsequent installations. Once set up, the tent is ready for use within just 60 seconds.

The Skycamp Mini features locking mounting brackets that work with Rivian’s optional Adventure Key for added security. Additionally, the tent can withstand heavy rain and gusts of wind up to 35 mph, thanks to its breathable polycotton canvas and waterproof rainfly.

The collaboration with iKamper offers Rivian customers a unique camping experience tailored to their vehicles. Rivian’s aesthetic is reflected in the tent’s design elements, including exclusive color options and branded accents. For consumers looking for a more luxurious option, iKamper also offers models with additional features, such as dimmable lighting and an upgraded interior, starting at $4,450.

Orders for the Skycamp Mini can be placed through iKamper’s website, with a shipping fee of $200 for locations in the contiguous United States. Shipping to Alaska, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii incurs an additional $800 charge. Early buyers will also receive a bonus “Disco Series” stove with their purchase, available while supplies last.
