Nhl Playoff Bracket April 2025

NEWARK, N.J. – As the NHL regular season approaches its conclusion, playoff scenarios intensify with teams on the brink of clinching playoff berths. The New Jersey Devils secured their playoff spot on April 8 when the New York Rangers lost to the Philadelphia Flyers, solidifying their engagement in the postseason.

The Devils will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round, with home-ice advantage yet to be finalized. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers have a chance to clinch a berth by winning against the St. Louis Blues on April 9. A loss by the Calgary Flames to the Anaheim Ducks would further cement their position.

“We’re gearing up for some incredible hockey in the playoffs,” said Edmonton Oilers Coach Jay Woodcroft. “The boys are focused on executing our game plan and getting that playoff spot.”

As of April 9, the Oilers can secure their playoff fate if they defeat the Blues in regulation, while the Blues themselves will clinch with a win over Edmonton combined with a loss from Calgary.

With the regular season concluding on April 17, fans eagerly await the playoff matchups, which are slated to commence the following weekend. Sixteen teams will battle it out in the postseason, with the ultimate goal of reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in June.

The last team to do so successfully was the Florida Panthers, who are attempting to win back-to-back championships. The Panthers will face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round if standings hold, giving rise to an exciting rivalry in the Eastern Conference.

The playoff bracket features notable matchups: the Toronto Maple Leafs versus the Ottawa Senators, the Washington Capitals against the Montreal Canadiens, and the Winnipeg Jets against the Minnesota Wild.

“Every game now carries weight, and the pressure builds,” said NHL analyst John Buccigross. “Fans can expect thrilling matches as the teams fight for their playoff lives.”

As teams prepare for the playoffs, the league will continue to update standings daily, reflecting the fluidity of playoff positions. Fans can track their favorite teams through the final matches to see who secures those coveted playoff spots.

In the current standings, the Toronto Maple Leafs lead the Atlantic Division, followed closely by the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers. The Metropolitan Division sees the Capitals and Hurricanes vying for dominance, while the Central and Pacific divisions showcase competitive races for the top seeds.

The league has structured the playoffs so that the best teams face lower-ranked wild-card teams initially, setting the stage for intense competition as teams aim to advance through the rounds towards the Stanley Cup Finals.
