Pakistan Wins First T20I Against Bangladesh by 37 Runs

LAHORE, Pakistan – Pakistan emerged victorious over Bangladesh in the first T20I of their series on May 28, 2025, winning by 37 runs. This match, held in Lahore, marks the beginning of a three-match series as both teams prepare for next year’s T20 World Cup.
Pakistan posted a formidable total of 202 runs, led by impressive performances in batting and bowling. Hasan Ali was the standout player, taking five wickets for 37 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award. The captain of Pakistan, Salman Agha, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s overall performance. “Everyone chipped in, and everyone came and played with intent. That’s what we want from them,” Agha said.
Bangladesh struggled in their innings, finishing at 164 all out in 19.2 overs. Captain Litton Das acknowledged the team’s poor performance in bowling, batting, and fielding. “We have to come back strongly. Not only bowling and batting, but you have to field well,” Das stated after the match.
Tanzid Tamim provided a promising start for Bangladesh with an aggressive six, but the team lost early wickets, including that of Tamim, who was bowled by Hasan Ali. The pressure mounted as key players fell quickly, leaving Jaker Ali as the top scorer with 36 runs. Bangladesh’s inability to maintain partnerships ultimately cost them the match.
Post-match, Agha was pleased with the return of Hasan Ali, stating, “I think everyone is saying that 2017 Hasan Ali is back. He’s well and truly back.” The Pakistan team celebrates this win as they look ahead to the second T20I on May 30.
