Referee's Quick Action Saves Mainz Player's Life In Bundesliga Match

Mainz player, Josuha Guilavogui, expressed his gratitude to referee Patrick Ittrich for potentially saving his life during a recent Bundesliga match, following a scary moment on the field.

The incident occurred when Guilavogui received an inadvertent blow to the head from his teammate, Anthony Caci‘s knee, in a game against Bayern Munich. The impact left the French player motionless and seemingly unconscious.

Ittrich quickly rushed to Guilavogui’s aid, swiftly putting him in the recovery position and adjusting his tongue, which had obstructed his airway, thereby allowing him to breathe again.

After the game, Ittrich modestly remarked, ‘You just have to act quickly, there’s no praise for it,’ highlighting the importance of timely intervention in such critical situations.

In a heartfelt message on social media, Guilavogui thanked Ittrich, his teammates, and the medical staff at Mainz for their rapid response and assistance in ensuring his well-being.

Mainz ultimately suffered a defeat in the match, losing 8-1 to Bayern Munich and remaining in the relegation zone in the Bundesliga standings.
