Stephanie Sparks, the beloved co-host of Golf Channel‘s ‘Big Break’ and former collegiate golf star, has passed away at the age of 50, leaving behind a legacy in the golfing world.

Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, Sparks achieved notable success in her amateur career, securing victories at prestigious events such as the North and South Women’s Amateur, Women’s Western Amateur, and Women’s Eastern Amateur.

Representing the U.S. on the 1994 Curtis Cup team, Sparks showcased her talents on the international stage before embarking on a professional golfing journey.

Despite a brief stint on the LPGA Tour in 2000, Sparks’ career was cut short due to chronic back pain, signaling the end of her competitive playing days.

In addition to her golfing prowess, Sparks made a cameo in the 2004 movie ‘Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius’ alongside Jim Caviezel, portraying the legendary Alexa Stirling.

Tom Abbott, who shared the screen with Sparks on ‘Big Break,’ expressed admiration for her dedication and understanding of the contestants’ struggles, emphasizing her profound impact on the show.

Throughout her life, Sparks was a fervent advocate for causes such as hospice care, supporting organizations like Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation and the Barber Fund in Orlando.

Her recent passing at Kepner Funeral Homes in Orlando has deeply saddened the golf community, highlighting the lasting influence and contributions of Stephanie Sparks.
