Amidst the bustling scene of English football, much attention is being directed towards a player who has swiftly become a household name. Cole Palmer, a dynamic figure in Chelsea‘s lineup, is garnering widespread praise for his outstanding performances both at the club and international level.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been unabashed in his admiration, labeling Palmer as “the best player in the Premier League.” Similarly, fellow Chelsea teammate Jadon Sancho expressed confidence in Palmer’s potential, stating, “anything is possible” with him in the squad.

This season, Palmer’s impressive record of six goals in seven league games has made him a standout player. Remarkably, four of these goals were netted in a dazzling first-half performance against Brighton, reflecting his capability to influence the game significantly.

Despite a promising start to his international career, Palmer has yet to become a permanent fixture for the England national team. Having earned nine caps, his impact was particularly noted when he scored as a substitute in the Euro 2024 final, although England succumbed to a defeat against Spain.

As England prepares for their Nations League matches against Greece and Finland, there is growing speculation about Palmer’s inclusion in the starting eleven. Former England striker Gary Lineker noted on the “Match of the Day” program, “Every time I see him, he takes my breath away,” adding that Palmer may be the best among England’s current roster of talented players.

Palmer’s performance at Chelsea this season extends a narrative of growth and potential. Following his transfer from Manchester City, he has contributed to 44 goals, combining both goals and assists, which outshines even prolific scorers like Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in terms of overall impact on the field.

Former Arsenal and England forward Theo Walcott asserted on BBC Radio 5 Live that Palmer’s exceptional talent instills awe in his opponents, suggesting that if his current trajectory continues, he could become a Premier League legend.

Interim England manager Lee Carsley, who has had to make strategic decisions without some key players like Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham, faces the task of integrating Palmer effectively into the team. Carsley has previously utilized Palmer as a central midfielder at the Under-21 level.

The debate over Palmer’s best position continues, with suggestions that his versatility could see him perform in various roles – even left-back, a position he played in his youth, although Carsley seems cautious about such a move for critical international fixtures.

With talents such as Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon vying for positions, Palmer’s inclusion in the main squad remains a subject of strategic consideration, given his form in recent games has surpassed many of his contemporaries.

Noni Madueke, another promising talent at Chelsea, praised Palmer, expressing that “the sky is the limit” for what Palmer can achieve, highlighting the young player’s potential and the exciting future that lies ahead.
