Shooting Stars pulled off a thrilling 2-1 victory over Kano Pillars in a Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) showdown at the Sani Abacha Stadium, leaving the home fans in disbelief.

The match was hyped after Kano Pillars suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Enyimba in their previous fixture, and they aimed to bounce back with a win on home turf.

However, the visiting Shooting Stars had different plans, as they stunned the hosts with a late comeback to secure all three points.

It was Kano Pillars who struck first, with NPFL icon Rabiu Ali finding the back of the net just four minutes into the game, setting the tone for an intense battle.

In the second half, Shooting Stars came out revitalized and quickly leveled the score through Taye Murtala, injecting a new sense of urgency into the contest.

With the match heading towards a draw, former Flying Eagles forward Christian Pyagbara stepped up for Shooting Stars and buried the winning goal in stoppage time, sending the away fans into jubilation.

Shooting Stars have now climbed to sixth place in the NPFL standings, just three points behind the third-placed Remo Stars, while Kano Pillars find themselves in eighth position after the disappointing home defeat.
