Smriti Mandhana: A Beacon of Excellence in Education and Cricket
Indian women’s cricket star, Smriti Mandhana, hails from Mumbai, Maharashtra, and is celebrated for her elegant left-handed batting style.
Her early education took place in Madhavnagar, Sangli, Maharashtra, after moving from Mumbai at a young age. Mandhana attended the renowned Shardashram Vidyamandir School, known for its emphasis on academics and sports development.
During her high school years, Mandhana balanced her academic pursuits with cricket training, making it to Maharashtra’s Under-15 team at just nine years old.
Post-schooling, Mandhana enrolled in Chintaman Rao College of Commerce in Sangli, Maharashtra, pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree while actively participating in cricket.
Amidst her college education, Mandhana achieved significant milestones in cricket, making her ODI, T20I, and Test debuts for India against Bangladesh and England.
Mandhana’s ability to excel both academically and in cricket is commendable, with her family providing crucial support – her father managing her cricket program and her mother overseeing her diet and organization.
Recognizing her outstanding achievements, in 2018, Mandhana was honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award by the Government of India for her contributions to cricket.
