Sofiane Diop Returns for Nice’s Match Against Freiburg Despite Injury Concerns
Nice, France – November 6, 2025
Sofiane Diop is set to start for OGC Nice in their Europa League match against SC Freiburg on Thursday night after recovering from an early exit against Paris Saint-Germain. Diop was substituted just 30 minutes after coming on during a 1-0 loss to PSG on Saturday, but medical staff cleared him to return.
This positive news arrives as Nice faces ongoing injury challenges. Manager Franck Haise will also have Mohamed-Ali Cho available for selection, as he returns from injury, though striker Terem Moffi will remain unavailable. Other players, including Moise Bombito, Youssouf Ndayishimiye, and Mohamed Abdelmonem, will also miss the upcoming match due to injuries.
Compounding the team’s situation, French international Jonathan Clauss is suspended for the fixture. Additionally, Kojo Peprah Oppong‘s participation remains uncertain, as he deals with sore Achilles following a tough tackle this past weekend.
In preparation for the match, Haise’s lineup could include Yehvann Diouf in goal and a defensive lineup of Melvin Bard, Juma Bah, Antoine Mendy, and Ali Abdi. Moving forward, Charles Vanhoutte, Hicham Boudaoui, and Tom Louchet will support the midfield, while Jérémie Boga and Kevin Carlos will partner Diop in attack.
Coach Haise’s decisions in the lead-up to the match will be crucial, as Nice aims to improve their competitiveness in the group stage of the Europa League.
